Offline Mission Glitch
« on: June 18, 2009, 11:26:29 AM »
I posted this before in the Offline Mission threads but no one had a clue what was going on. It's for one of the missions called "RumbleMania."
(Good mission, mind you, Danny! :aok) http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,263131.0.html

It's a fun mission for sure.

Only problem for me is this, and I'm not b/s'ing here....

Like most missions, many planes will often be found spawning at one point. As a result, your plane is found 'fused' inside the others. I chose the Spitfire VIII for example. When I spawned, I found nothing unusual. I was in the cockpit of a plane but of course, I couldn't see anything because the other planes which spawned there were blocking my view.

But get this.

As I toggled my mouse control to move the stick, the control surfaces of ALL the spawned planes would move. The mossie, the TBM, Fw 190 and whatever the hell was there would all move their surfaces as I moved mine.

It get's weirder.

As I turned the engine on, I realized... that's not the familiar Merlin... that's an R-2800. I throttled up and, lo and behold, a P-47D-11 began to taxi onto the runway. I thought, ok, sound issue or maybe that NPC happened to start his engine right after mine and blocked my engine sound. So I tried again. Shut off engine. The P-47 on the runway shuts off his while I'm still in the cockpit of my plane sitting motionless on the runway. Start engine again, and the R-2800 roars to life on the P-47. Throttle up, P-47 moves....

Holy crap....! I'm controlling the P-47. WTF? I look around the cockpit of the plane my camera is in and I'm actually in a Fw 190.

All in all, I chose a Spitfire VIII, spawned inside a Fw 190, was controlling the surfaces of multiple spawned, motionless planes but was in full control of a plane on which my camera was not attached to.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Haha well.

turns out the problem was only occurring with v 2.12.4. I was on a my laptop which I hadn't used in ages and decided to install the mission through my USB. Didn't think it would be so bad!

It works fine on 2.13.1.

I don't know if Y29 is glitched or not but when you take off using the p47 or Pony - you take off from enemy airfield so its very difficult to get off the ground without getting shot up by ack.

If needed, you can change the base ownership via your clipboard offline before starting the mission.  That would fix it.
