Bought it cheap, just to see how it was going in AHII (I'm not a gamer really, so... )

Now that I'm a bit more into the game, I was looking for a better setup (a few more buttons, pedals)

Questions :

Is the CH setup really worth spending the double in price? (455 euro’s = 728 dollars)
Any good or bad experiences with Saitek?
Any good or bad experiences with CH?
Big difference between the saitek X52 and the X52 Pro?

In the long run, the CH set-up will out perform and outlast anything else out there....which makes it the best bargain. My only caveat would be Saitek Pro Peds, which are as good or better than the CH peds.

I currently use the full saitek set up x52 (not pro). Its easy to set up (I only use the ingame mapping - so no profiles to worry about external of the game). Find the stick precise, throttle makes speed management way easier, and pedals are excellent. My one gripe with the x52 is the lightness of the spring on the joystick - I'm quite heavy handed, and it took me a while to get used to not swinging it around quite so hard - would love to be able to adjust that about it. If you have small hands, you might struggle to get it "just so" - but overall its a pretty decent hotas set up.

If I do have to change it, I'd keep the saitek pedals, and get the CH joy and throttle - purely because if I break it, I'll have to look for something a tiny bit more sturdy. I'd keep the saitek pedals as they are wider and I have big feet.

if you dont mind replacing your stuff every 6-8 months, get saitek. if you want longevity, get CH. i went through 2  X-52s in 4 months. My CH gear is going on 2 yrs without a problem.

I've had the same excellent experience with a full CH setup. Very durable, and has more buttons and switches than you can really use, IMO.
I have the CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro pedals. Buy them once, and you won't have to worry about replacing them for years.

Saitek X52 Stick, Throttle, Rudder, non pro, perfect so far for allmost two years now.  I also only map in Game as that is the one drawback.  The SST programming software in my opinion stinks.

I know a couple of the best sticks in the game that used the top gun afterburner setup, but if you can afford it I'd go with CH or the X52 setup.

I agree with the assessment on the CH gear.  I can't even remember what I programmed into two of the hat switches on my CH Fighterstick USB.

Now I have played with wurzel's setup and I have to say I found the stick (x52)  nowhere near as accurate as my CH stuff.

You could probably skimp on the pedals but I dont advise getting the Saitek stick over the CH one.

For most of my time in AW I used a CH Combat Stick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals, the one thing I hated about the CH stick was the center indent.  It felt like move it left ok move it back to the right and at the center point clunk. Thats something the X52 doesnt do its much smoother across the full range of motion.
