Last time I was on a Dredger mission I was diving towards my assigned FH and was just about to release when I saw someone else kill it.
So now I have to pull back up, gain alt again, spin around looking for a different FH, and then drop from probably a disadvantageous position.
I never made it cause I was forced to drop and fight. But thats typical. You really get that one good shot to drop when flying into a heavily contested airfield.
That was 3 missions ago. 2 mission ago I was assigned to take over if the leader discoed. All we had was 110s and goons so I asked one expereinced guy in a 110 to access any incomings, engage if he thought it necessary, and then call for two more 110s "designated" if he needed em. After all what good is a town down if you have no goons? And that would still leave us with 10 110s to take the town down.
So what happens? 1/2 dozen 110s take off after an LA-7 while 3 or 4 cons are IB, leaving the few of us with a town 1/2 down and all of a sudden short of 110s. First off you cant catch an LA-7 in the first place. Not in a 110. So there is no reason for more then 1 to go after it. Well it was a screwup. My instructions were pretty simple. No more then 3 designated guys were to go after cons, and 1 of the 3 was to give the commands.
So you can make a map, assign a General, give him Godlike powers, but it aint going to change anything. A lot of these missions are doomed from the start due to some of the personel involved. There are still many, many Rooks I wont hesitate to fly missions with. We have a lot of great guys who do their jobs, dont babble, and most of all support the mission X/O. Whoever he is. But Im going to start being more selective about missions I fly in.
When Im flying with a squad and am assigned a target? I just do it. I follow instruction and just do it.
