Registry problems.
« on: June 06, 2008, 07:10:22 PM »
I've been without the Task Pane, Appearance and Themes option in control panel, and the desktop tab in display properties for some time now, and I finally decided I wanted them back. So I did some googleing and found some help articles that tell me that this is the result of Turn on classic shell policy is enabled, and tells me to edit the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer" by setting the ClassicShell value to zero, and then do the same in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer." But the problem is, there is no explorer in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies. I successfully edited the one in current user and got the task pane and desktop tab in display properties, but the latter does not work, and the background has changed to pure white and I can't change it back using any means at all.

So can anyone help?
