Yes, this was a state police officer. And he was young.  And, I agree with Lazs.  My tires are oversized and my speedo is not calibrated so technically it is my fault (for failing to calibrate the speedo, to me, it looked as though I was doing exactly 70) and I take responsibility for breaking the law but for crissakes, 3 mph is alittle rediculous.

Yea I know how you feel. I had my speedometer (it was digital) go out about 6 years ago. I just try to drive the same pace as everyone else.

I personally think that service should be illegal. I'd rather have a speed trap capture a speeder who was drunk, than have him kill someone else. The police are some of the real heroes in our community, why don't we let them do their job.
it is it is obstruction of justice

Here in Ga we really can't ticket you for speeding unless you are going at least 10 over.

I've always wondered about the 5 or 10 mph cushion. If you rob a bank for only $5, is it illegal or will they let you slide with a warning?

Here if you flash your lights to warn of a speed trap you will get fined.

Few months ago someone got a ticket for that around here.
She got a lawyer and beat it in court.

I think that if you don't break the law then there's nothing to worry about.  3 over is a little outrageous for a ticket though.  Not a cop, just work with a bunch of federal LEOs.

Well there is breaking the law and BREAKING the law.

I've had 4 people pass me like im standing still and Im the one that got the speeding ticket

Last year was a real winner though.
I took my exit all of about 3 feet early. Meaning before the white line moved ot the side of the road indicating it was forming an exit lane..
It was at a red light. There was a truck in front of me and a cart in front of him. Both were at a complete stop already.
I did what 99.99999% of people would  do in the same situation. I took my exit. 75% of my Van was where it was supposed to be. About 3 feet has over the line early.

Next thing I know Im pulled over.

First time I've ever had a cop sincerly apologise to me for giving me a ticket. "I mean it. Im actually apoliogising to you for giving you this ticket. I know its a BS ticket but my boss is making me do it."  The man really looked hurt that he had to do it.

I said "Lemme guess. Bald, About 5'7", stocky,Gung ho attitude like hes seen too many Hollywood marine DI movies?"

He laughed in a way that I knew who it was.

Apologised to me again and told me to plead not guilty.

I ended up doing a plea as no matter what way I sliced it. Even if I won I stood to loose more money by not going to work that day then the fine would cost me. It was the cheapest way out

I know the "boss" he's talking about. One of those real over the top gung ho militant types.
Been told to me by several other cops that even the other guys in the dept dont like him
