Usually, 100% gas, 20x 20mm, and Fencer's JG11 skin.
Don't fly the A8 all that often though. If I'm in a 190, it's usually the A5 or the Ta152.

I don't see how you could do anything other than bnz in 190A8, and don't see the point taking a 190A8 without gondolas when you can have a 190A5.

I personnaly take the 30mms with convergence 350 and avoid most of the duels  :noid

2 points, of which I will cover the second point first:

2) The 190a8 does NOT have gondolas. It has internally mounted gun positions. The guns can be removed. There is no drag with these installations. Gondolas are external tubs hanging underneath a wing that induce much drag and heavily reduce performance. A 190A8 gains weight and loses a small (small!) amount of roll. It has this in spades, and can spare a little. The weight is the problem.

1) You can easily dogfight with the 190A8. I wouldn't suggest simply flat turning it with spits, but that is NOT the only way to dogfight. Especially if you take 2 guns and have 50% or less fuel during the fight, it can actually surprise you. I've out-fought some LA-7s (well flown, too) and Yak-9us and various other planes in a 2-gun, light-fueled 190A8.

Well, first of all the 30mm are crap...  You get 55 or 60 rounds of 33mm, and once their gone, you're stuck with the extra weight of those guns.  2x20mm's, I'd only take when hunting Buffs and not expecting much escort cover...  light gun package is best, and stay in ther vertical for the duration of the fight if you don't wanna BnZ.

I fully agree with Krusty regarding dogfighting in the A8.  I've beat Spits, Hurris, F6F's, F4U's and any number of other more nimble fighters in it.  On some occasions I've gotten into turn fights with these types and dropped all three notches of flaps, only extending briefly to re-set along the way.  It will surprise you but not unless you try it.

My favorite use for the a8 is base defense when there is a cv on shore. In the confusion of the low furball it is easy to blast away w/ the 4 20mms I always bring. There is no need to bnz.

I enjoy the challenge of taking on la7s with the full cannon load out. It's still possible to mix it up with the best of them in the A8 with the heaviest gun package. Always fight up and rolling. Don't be affraid to get the flaps out.... just don't hang on them, the 190 doesn't slow down well so forcing an overshoot that you're able to capitalise on is unlikely against anyone more experienced than a 12 year old two weeker.

120 rounds of 30mm is nothing to be scoffed at. If you're can shot worth a damn you should have at least 5 kills before you run out of 30mm and then you've still got the 300+ rounds of 20mm to work with.

If you fight the Anton's fight, the 30mm make a negligible difference for a big return.

I fly the A8 with 100% fuel and 2x20mm/2x30mm.  Won't leave home without them.  Convergence set at 650.  I can take the wings off a buff from 800 (same with the 109K-4).

Same, but listen to Bld, he knows what hes talking about. If nothing else PM Doom hes been flying thta A-8 realy good lately.

BTW I take the the JG300 skin, baddest one in the game. :t
