I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last night with my sister and her fiancee, and I have to say, I don't think I've laughed so hard at the movies EVER.
I'll say right off: It's NO Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Last Crusade tops it. I'd say it's a close match with Temple of Doom, with Temple having the slight edge because of nostalgia, but it's EXACTLY what you expect from Indy (I was reading a discussion on the film, and it was pointed out that the way movies are review has changed in the last 20 years. Besides there being MORE major critics (120ish reviews for Kingdom, vs. about a third to half that for the previous installments) reviews are a lot tougher now-a-days. Comparing the actual content of the reviews places Kingdom on roughly the same ground as Last Crusade, MAYBE Raiders).
There was really only one moment that made me roll my eyes, (hint: when Shia LaBeouff comes face-to-face with hundreds of monkeys) and despite some criticism that there was too much CGI, the only time it really stood out was the ending.
All-in-all, tho, it's vintage Indy.
