Me262A-1
« on: May 24, 2008, 07:42:49 PM »
I was wondering if there were any other 262s built in any number during the war, and if yes how did they differ from the one we have.

There were several... the A2, I think, was a JaBo version, there was also a version that had a 50mm cannon in the nose IIRC. There was also a twin seated nightfighter version with radar.

yup, jabo version had 2 points for taking 250-500kg bombs, and rockets too. only had 2x30mm though. this may be a good choice for the game, but to be honest, it would still cost 150-200perks, so why not take the ar234 for 40 perks?

maybe once perk ord comes out (if it ever does) the other version of the 262 will come about, but as it is now, i doubt it.

Id love the rockets though...

Oh, and the A1 version we have was also capable of carrying 24 R4M air to air rockets. They would be nice too...

I WANT AIR TO AIR ROCKETS.(drooling at the though and showing his excitement in all  caps) .  24 air to air rockets would be amazing.  Even better way to kill bombers.

We don't have R4M's, though. We have WGr. 21cm rockets, which explode after 1000 yards. 24 R4M's were mounted under the wing of the 262, and were all fired off at the same time for a shotgun type effect. They were small rockets so they had a similar trajectory to the 30mm projectiles of the Mk.108 the Me262 was also equipped with. They were pretty effective IIRC. Then again, so we're the WGr. 210cm's in real life, but they're pretty hard to use here.

All you will need to know on the 262 great web site. http://www.stormbirds.com/warbirds/index.html Plus what 262 air to air rockets will do to a bomber as well as what one shell from a 262 will do to a plane.             http://flickr.com/photos/21734563@N04/2112941171/in/pool-usaaf/
