X-52 zoom wierdness
« on: May 26, 2008, 01:55:13 PM »
ive got a problem with the zoom on my X-52.

i dont have the sst software installed.

i have the "i" button mapped to turn on/off zoom and the slider to use the zoom (ive tryed mapping the zoom on/off to a diffrent button but the same thing happens).

in fighters, pilot, gunner position works perfectly.
in f6 (bombers) the "i" button works but the slider dosent, i have to move the slider to the zoom leval i want then use the button to "jump" to the zoom leval.

in gv's (any position) the "i" button dosent work and i have to use the z key to turn zoom on but the slider does work.

any idea's as this is driving me nuts. i carnt figure out why it works in certain places but not others.

Hmmm. Where to start?

OK... z is the default key for zoom toggle, not i. Did you change this?
The default mapping for i is elevator trim down. Did you change this also?
The square bracket keys ([ and ]) zoom in and out after the z key is toggled.

Why don't you reset the zoom toggle back to the z key and use it? Also, reset elevator trim back to the i key.

Vehicles are mapped separately as Mode 2. After you've reset everything back to the original settings, go to Options Controls, Map Controllers and copy Mode 1 to Mode 2. Make sure you have selected Mode 2 in the top drop down menu and set your change gear up and down, etc.

Select the box to automatically select Mode 2 for gvs.

Also, when you are in any other position other than the F1 (cockpit) view in bombers, the level of zoom when you toggle z is dependent on the zoom in the F1 view. So, set a small zoom with [ and ] keys while in F1 view, then you can adjust more while in the F6, gunner or other outside views

best thing to do with zoom on the x-52 in my opinion is to use the software to map ti to the mousbutton on the front of the slider up=zoom in down=zoom out click turns zoom on and off

you can use the sst software for just that function and map everything else in aces high. thats the way i have it.

in fact you can use sst to map buttons that aces high cant map liek the clutch button and you can use it to make your rotaries somethign else if you arnt using them for trim.
u have to get the newest version to be able to map the clutch button though i have mine maped to squd vox on one proflle and maped as a shift button on flight sim x

Firstly, zoom is fighting with the FOV setting when in external view, so that's what's happening in F5 (F6?) view. The brackets (or your slider) control both the movement toward and away of the aircraft in external view and the magnification of the zoom setting.

Secondly, if you have the game set to use the 2nd stick set for GVs and you haven't copied over the controls from the first stick set, then your i button is replaced by the default z key.

Please disregard the first part of my other post. I thought you meant i key, since the i button on the throttle cannot be mapped directly without the sst software on my X-52Pro. The X-52 must be different. Sorry for any confusion.

just seems wierd how they work diffrent ways around in diffrent modes.
