It's a crappy lens for macro application...35-70mm f/2.8D AF. A couple of them I post processed, not all. It's probably my eyesite too, its not the best.
I've noticed that good focus falls off severely from the focus point at a low f-stop which I'm not happy about with this lens. For the waterfall shot, I used a slow shutter speed to blur the water.
Do you have any recommendations for macro lenses? I use Nikon stuff. I don't want to spend more than $1000 though...
For what i heard 35-70 is one of the sharpest nikon lenses, mby your copy is bad. Last week i where considering getting that model instead of 24-70 2.8 (witch is superb, heh but price sux)
As for micro recommendation, for nikon you have 2 options in this price range.
60mm f2. , i pick up mine for 200$ but it was very much beaten in appearance, lots of dents on the corpus. But optically ok, as you can see. . Im happy with this lens.
Or 105 mm f2.8 but not new VR version
Same good is tamron 90 macro, very good lens , matching nikon lenses.
I would preffer little longer lens then my 60 mm, but i got it for very good price.
