looks better.  Dont like the handlebar arrangement but hey, that's personal preference.  Bigger engine is always better and this one has even less mileage than the last.

The sticky throttle he mentions isn't an issue unless it's a "jamming" throttle.  Frankly, on long trips I've wished my throttle would stick on every bike I've ever owned......cruise control is rare on bikes.

he says if you let it sit hands off it creeps up, possiblly a spring. I'm bringing my guy again and he'll check it out.

It's a 28 year old bike with only 11,000 miles. I wold be very suspect of it. If it was a good bike it should have more miles than that even up in the frozen North.

Are you severely limited by budget or just an old bike fan? For something that old you'll likely have to look at doing some work as the seals and "O" rings are not going to be in the best shape. Doing a tear down isn't going to be that much fun and parts will be a bit scarce.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

yes $$ is super tight. the whole reason I'm getting one is MPG and my Stimulus check. I can swing the other $200 above the check, but no more than that.

I mentioned I have a good friend who is offering to do all work needed free I pay parts and learn. We also have a local bike salvage that is quite good, and he gives deals to my buddy (he works on bikes of friends all the time and is starting a side business of bike repair).

Why is it when I see a born again wearing black leather chaps do I feel the need to shout "Wild hogs!" at em?

Thinking about getting me some. I never owned a pair and only with my recent purchase have I ever owned a black leather jacket. I have the scars from riding without in my youth to prove it. :)

Nothing wrong with an old bike, if it's in good shape.

I've got an 81 Virago 750

Runs great, very low miles.  Not really interested in paying what they want for a new bike, and won't buy a used one since..well..I Got a used one :)

750 Vtwin does ok for me.

Looks like this one.

Easy to work on, shaft drive, plenty of power, stable and comfortable bike.  You can find one for 900-1200 in very nice shape.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.
