I'm liking the "Havoc"
« on: June 06, 2008, 07:07:03 PM »
Amazing fight I had today with a friendly "valdals" (Ki-67), myself (A-20G), and an enemy 190.  The 190 was approaching my six quickly as I struggle along 3k @ 325mph after dive bombing a Training Facility.  I make my move early.  At 2k out on my six, I make an easy left and then crank it harder and harder.  Just as he approaches my 12, he is too close and does not have a shot.  Valdals in his Ki67 comes over to help out.  As he plays the bait, I am able to swoop in on the 190's six with decent acceleration from my two large props and make a nice burst into the 190's fuselage. I leave him with a fuel leak.  Surprisingly I am able to turn sharper than he, not knowing what this A-20G could actually do in combat situations.  Valdals keeps turning and burning his E, the 190 does the same.  I close in after my nice fuel tank hit.  800, 600, 400.  I'm right on his six but with his incredibly small profile, I can't hit em or shots are deflected.  He then makes one last turn on my friendly valdals and I lit the bastige on fire!

This plane sure does some amazing things!

From taking down a Training Facility from 100% to 65% in one pass, to dog fighting a 190 (assisted in the above case).  This machine does it all.  I mainly use it for attacking GVs as it is nimble and carries 8 X 500lbs.

I just wanted to express my feelings about this plane as I rarely see it flown in the MA.

Suggestions?  Comments?

Cobia and Snaphook are awesome in the A-20.  I haven't flown against Snaphook yet, but I've flown with and against Cobia and he can make that plane dance.

I love flying the A-20 in fighter mode.  If I come up against someone 1v1 and he's half decent, I'm probably going down.  Having said that, what I think the A-20 does really, really well is take a punch.  Many times I've made a maneuver knowing that I would take a hit while setting up for my shot.  The A-20 takes the hit and leaves you with that shot you were looking for.  Most times it's the only shot you get, but if you get it, those nose guns will shred anything they hit.

Yep, a real joy to fly and probably the toughest plane I've flown.  K/D takes a hit on those tours though.

Try the Mosquito Mk VI as well.  If you like one, you'll probably like the other too.

I hardly fly at all anymore.  I still think that is likely to change in the near future.

But...

I do have a number of aircraft I prefer.  Last fight I did was in the TA and I used the Ki-84, which is one of my two favorite "pure" fighters.

Yeah, the A-20G is a supercool plane.   :aok :D If anyone has any tips for flying it effectively and well, that'd be great.

Also, can anyone tell me what the main differences are between the Boston III and A-20G?  And how to fly the Boston decently.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Boston has a much smaller gun package at 4 x .303's, it also is less capable in the vertical then the A-20 and has a smaller fuel load. Both can be formidable adversaries when they engage with alt and E. Obviously in a co-e or inferior situation they will be at a disadvantage however the one strength they usually have is being somewhat of an unknown, an aggresive A-20 driver can suprise alot of people.

I like upping an A-20 at a capped field.  Low and slow right over the field.  The A-20 can take a bit of a beating and has the teeth to ruin somebodies day if they find themselves in front of my guns.
