AvA So How Exactly does this work?
« on: June 09, 2008, 11:56:04 AM »
There should be a sticky thread with the basics in it.

I'm new to the AvA. This will be my first tour of it, and honestly I couldn't tell you how any of it works.

How do you all pick commanders?
How does scoring work?
How are limited resources handled?
How long is a tour?

The point system for different aircraft/vehicles?
If you purchase 1 of a thing, does that mean it can only up from one field?
Can that field ever be changed?
Is it coded into the map that way, or are people essentially on the honor system to launch the right planes from the right fields?

Is the arena locked to those who are not in a "recognized" AvA squad?

More questions will probably come on the heels of these.

The war hasn't started yet. Try to get access to the Allied forum and find out who your CO is and your objectives. The point in BoA (which is different in past setups) is to bomb enemy strats for money. The next round you use your money to place aircraft at fields.

The point system for different aircraft/vehicles? Each aircraft /vehicle costs a different amount based on historic prices. Each side starts with 1.2 million dollars.
If you purchase 1 of a thing, does that mean it can only up from one field? Yes.
Can that field ever be changed? Next round, I believe (Rounds begin/end Thursday nights at 11:59 IIRC)
Is it coded into the map that way, or are people essentially on the honor system to launch the right planes from the right fields? The CM's can make it so only certain aircraft are available at certain fields.
Is the arena locked to those who are not in a "recognized" AvA squad? Nope.

I look forward to having someone else from the 49th to fly against! <S>

What I think I understand so far.

We're being scored in this first week on the amount of strat object we destroy?

And that is all?

Vehicles destroyed or bases captured don't count for anything?
Can we even capture territory during this first round?

Is this why everything other than the strat objects re-pop after about 2 minutes?

ok,

No bases arent capturable.

Strat downtimes are 3 days vs Base downtimes which are 1 hour.

This first round is going to basically be a pratice, it will be the real thing, but we are going to find the bugs in it.

As my XO Motherland stated, get into the Allied forum, if that is what you wish to fly, contact your CO, there you will find more information.

I am already in the allied forums, but they didn't have the answers to these questions. That's why I am asking them here.

Asking it out in the open in the hopes that it won't have to be asked and answered over and over again.

Like I said in the first post, this is the kind of info that needs to be stickied at the top of the forum.

OK this is how it works.

I submit my budget sheet. The staff member activate the planes i chose at the specified fields i chose. From those fields we can up as many of those specific planes we want. As for changing the fields, I'm not sure, at the end of the war i submit a new budget sheet, it is possible i can change where  i want me planes. No it is not determined by a sense of honor to up the right planes for they will be the only ones available. You will find some fields don't have nay planes available at all.

Hope that helps.
