I offered a suggestion that would provide relief, but no one seemed to pay it any attention.
Chain the radar, each base providing a zone similar to what it does now. Take out a base or multiple base radar causing blind spots in a countries defense...this losing the entire dar by one lancaster or one sortie is not very realistic...I could be wrong, but what countries radar is facilitated through one structure?

In addition, strat might be enhanced by this configuration. Large attack forces could be flown thru these dead zones undetected...might be fun.

Dar is in this sim to help us find the fights so we can have fun...it's a good thing, perhaps it needs a tweak

I think this is a great idea.

When one buff sortie can remove all radar from one country, it takes away a lot of the fun.  From what I have seen, most folks just log off, and that is not good.  Right now, dropping the other guy's radar is what you do if you want to "win the war", but for the wrong reasons.  It's not that it will give you a big tactical advantage, but that after you nuke their radar, many of the guys in the opposing country will simply log off.  Not fun. :/

I would have no objection to HQ removing dot radar, but removing the sector counters as well is too much IMHO.  I don't think it should be possible to completely remove all radar by hitting one target.  I think Ice's suggestion might be one way to solve this.

If we assume that the HQ represents a country's Command and Control, and that sector bars represent tactical intelligence distributed from the HQ, then destroying the HQ SHOULD disable the sector bars for the entire country.  If we assume that inflight radar dots are information from ground controllers also distributed from the HQ, then killing HQ should also disable inflight radar.

So far, the current system is correct IMO.

The only change I would make, would be to make LOCAL radar for a particular field available in that field's tower, even when HQ is destroyed.  With the HQ destroyed, there would be no country-wide inflight information, but there would be local, ground -based information from WORKING radar towers.

HT has stated that the only thing he'd consider changing is possibly no DAR BAR for A/C below  radar limit (500 feet?).

What I'm suggesting would make MORE dar available than it is now.  Can't see how that would hurt gameplay or the bottom line.

Yep, that's also an interesting idea popeye.

Anything that will prevent the complete removal of all radar by hitting one target is what I'm looking for.

This is a gameplay issue for me, forget about the "realism" aspect.  If I log in only to find no radar at all, it makes it tough to figure out what the heck is going on.  In my experience, many folks just log off in this situation.  If I don't have a lot of time to fly that day, I've done it myself.  I hold that this situation is bad for the AH community in the long run, and I think we should look for a better solution.  I'm glad to see a few interesting solutions in this thread.

It's HTC's decision, but we have nothing to lose by giving our opinions and discussing some possible solutions to what we see as problems.  It's good constructive feedback.

I like Iceman and Popeye's ideas very much. I just wish HTC would try one of them asap - unless it is a coding nightmare. In which case I'm just hoping they can.

These are the best ideas I've seen for this sim since I started here a year ago.

Someone post this in the general forum and someone else email it to HTC 35 times in block capitals.

Agreed Leph!

I also like Ice's idea of chaining radars.  It would be cool to have a deep strike team heading into enemy lands with some radar eliminators ahead of them to clear a path.
