Can anyone identify the Geschwader or Unit this FW-190D-9 belonged to?



Am unfamiliar with the tail marking on the aircraft. Does anyone have a photo of the actual aircraft?

I knew the original JG6 had become ZG26 - but didn't know that they had reverted back to JG6.

Interesting - I don't think I have ever seen those "Reich Defense Band" colors in any of the tables I have.

"formed in the late summer of 1944 out of the rest from Zerstörergeschwader 26.
It first saw action on the Western Front, and took part in "Operation Bodenplatte" but was withdrawn to the East after repeatedly suffering heavy losses.
Starved of fuel and forced to move many times to avoid the Russian advance, what was left of the unit retreated to the Prague area, several pilots flying West at the end of the war to avoid capture by Soviet forces."

It would be JG 6 if the colors were red-white-red.

Was wondering about that - one of the reasons I asked. Have never seen RED-YELLOW-RED.

There are profiles listed under JG6 with that same number, and band. Perhaps the profile artist made a mistake interpreting the color?

That is a likely explanation. Yellow and white can look similar in photos, particularly when the white has been 'dulled' to aid in camouflage whilst on the ground.
