Biometrics
« on: June 09, 2008, 01:12:56 AM »
Ok so I'm probably misusing the term, but I think this would be really cool. Obviously real pilots had differing levels of resistance to G forces and pressure etc. Currently In game all pilots are in a similar state of physical performance. I got this idea off of a post in another area of the forum that pointed out for a totally different issue that currently all pilot performance is identical as far as physical characteristics go.

What if Hi tech could enter our current state of health in the equation to give our personal pilots more realistic reactions to physics. Blackouts, redouts etc.

Info such as height, bodyweight, blood pressure, cholesterol, VO Max, etc. to make your individual pilot react more realistically to your inputs.

Now obviously this would not be desireable to be totally realistic, because there are some of us that are in extremely poor physical shape. They could use it to grade pilot performance a few degrees either way from an average. This would have an interesting effect in my opinion of finding workarounds for your own shortcomings, or taking advantage of your own superior physical fitness. If there were those that felt it was too intrusive they could just opt to fly the default average pilot. It might also inspire some to start exercising??? LOL nah that's too much to ask.  :rofl

I did search for such an idea on the forums and came up with nothing, so if this has been suggested please ignore it or flame away.

I can see it now, all prospective pilots need to submit for a class 2 medical examination before their registration can be processed.
Don't forget the obligatory $75 processing fee :aok

MAN! Can you imagine the coding that would have to go on to get this in the game! GEEZE!

Be a lot easier just to introduce "SCIENTOLOGY" into the game.   :D

I thought Combat Tour was supposed to incorporate something to this effect.  I think it also said that as you fly throughout the missions you will be able to change your attributes.  So you could have more stick pressure, or perhaps be more resistant to blackouts.

Youd lose 30 percent of the player base due to being unfit to fly.

But what if you're flying german planes? those dudes were supposed to be so Uber, if you listen to Hitler. Pull 2,894 g's and still stay conscious.
Now, if the game could be rigged directly to how much beer you're sucking back while online.......thank god for auto-takeoff..

I say your pilots tolerance to the forces should be relative to how much you play and your style of play, for example the noob would be blacking out and puking all over his canopy at say 3-4 Gs, were as the veteran AH pilot would be rock solid.......and then I woke up.

I think you are kind of missing the point of the game. Everyone has the chance to be a super-duper air plane warrior....regardless of reality. :)

funny you should say that about a post here in the wishlist forum  ;)

Possibly, what I was thinking was more to introduce a variable for the veteran pilots who may wish to be a bit more challenged in their piloting model. I think it would definately HAVE to be a choice between the current default pilot, or to use the physical model based on your own state of health, or more likely a few changed variables different than the default pilot based on your health.

It also seems obvious that this couldn't happen soon, if at all, due to coding issues and current user end hardware. Not even to get into privacy issues.

Just a thought.

Thanks for all the replies.

Now that would make things easier on n00bs.

In another nameless sim,you could adjust your pilots attributes. You had a 100 points that you could work with, vision, health and G tolerrance. This was alittle gamey if you ask me,in full realism you could just give 100 to G tolerance and never blackout. :O As for using our real health, sry,my medical records are confidential...
