I used to fish Leech Lake all the time. Way back when I was the first one on it to use, what were then, the new in-line planer boards. When live bait fishing shut down I used to kill the pike and walleye with rapalas pulled behind yellow birds. I caught Muskie like that, crappie, smallies, everything.

Im a great Lakes salmon and trout troller and I used trolling techniques to catch everything in fresh water. I used to kill the night walleye bite trolling lures behind them planers.

Actually Ghi those Salmon are from the Rogue River in Southern Oregon, both pics are from previous years Right now we have our springer season but Its a tough year, poor ocean returns but I still keep at it when I hook up this year I will post pic's The only springers we are allowed to keep are Hatchery  fin clipped fish, all wild stock have to be released. Our fall run is still open for wild fish so we shall see about the returns.
by the time fall run get here  I am already hunting so fishing is pushed back, stay tuned :salute
You dragged the dead horse into the yard and handed out the bats, sir.

Just about to go and untangle my two rods and try my luck with the kids this afternoon.

It is father's day today...you'd think that someone else might get the untangling job, but not around here.

My tarpon pictures.  My wife and I caught 1 each .   We were down in key west and did a charter for a half a day.  They call it fishing the flats.  We had a heck of a time.

Tarpon are great game fish...put up a heck of a fight for their size.

We caught didley today, but just as we were leaving the dock an old friend of mine showed up and offered the kids a ride in his new jet boat.  That proved to be quite a hit.  Now the kids want me to buy a jet boat.

No chance.

Just went fishing today and all I caught was one 5-7 inch bass :lol

Eventually we're getting a boat, might have more luck then.

Rip
why do you put your bait on a stringer? :)
Thats about the size of the whiting I cut up to catch a couple of these last month:

hey, hey, hey...be nice! We're  fishing freshwater, not saltwater! ;)  That's a great pic of you Eagler, but give your wife back her hat, okay? (j/k bud!)

We're heading out soon for our annual 1 week at the Potholes Reservoir for Walleye, large and smallmouth bass, trout, catfish.  Can't wait!

How'd the fishing trip go?

I took the kids to putt-putt golf, go cart racing, then they helped me "de-winterize" the boat (prep it for our 1 week fishing trip coming up)

You must have missed my post above Rip...unsucessful fishing trip but the jet boat ride made up for it in spades.

That said, there are quite a few 4-stroke outboard motors that consume very little fuel.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but finally have pix to post!  Took my son James out for a walk down the Juniata River.  Only about waist high in the deepest parts for most of it.  We were fishing with silver spoons for almost the entire mile of river we walked.  Caught 10 Small Mouth bass (biggest was only 11" so I couldn't keep any) and he caught 5...including a 14".  Later that day we went out to Raystown Lake to meet up with the rest of the family that was fishing for catfish.  Couple of casts with a silver spoon and whammo!   19" - 5.2 pounds!    Biggest bass I've ever caught!

I'm considering giving up fishing...

I got up early, put on my long johns, dressed quietly, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to hook the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour.

There was snow mixed with the rain, and the wind was gusting up to 30 mph.

I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.

There I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible!'

My loving wife of 18 years replied, 'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that crap? '

I still don't know if she was joking...

I know it's an oldie, but it's a goodie, almost spewed beer on my monitor
