That is about how I quit Diablo.
Smoked my last cigarette in the pack one Friday morning, didn't feel like going to the store to get more. Still had some Nicorette gum laying around, started chewing that. Like your lozenges, it wasn't as bad as I remembered

. Made it about a week on the gum before I ran out, went to go by more. At that point it kind of hit me that I had quit smoking - now I just needed to break the nicotine habit. Started chewing regular gum instead after about 6 weeks or 2 months (don't really remember).
I quit just about three years ago... rarely want to smoke now (maybe one craving every few months).
Good luck. Remember, if you want to quit, it is easy to do it. And if you end up going back to it, you didn't want to quit anyway, so no harm done
