CHUTES as spotters
« on: January 17, 2001, 11:46:00 PM »
I guess we've all seen those pesky 5K CHUTES over our bases as the fleet gets close. We all know that they are reporting the accuracy of NGFS (Naval GunFire Support), The location of GVs, Fighters & BUFFs rolling....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I don't believe any WW2 pilots had a radio small enough to use while parachuting from a burning plane --- dilemma ---
I believe this would be easily correctable if HTC would write some code to effectively MUTE text & RW comms while in a parachute...
Imagine - no benefit to killing chuters & you'd have the satisfaction of knowing that it'll be 10 to 15 minutes before that skydiver will be able to launch again.   At which point, you and your wingies will be firmly established over his airfield and be able to kill him 2 or 3 more times easily.

Those Hi-Alt chutes will be a thing of the past.

HTC would be hard pressed to mute RW from the game as its a 3rd party application (not sure on how HTC could control it, it may be possible).

Make it impossible to transmit on a text radio would work.

I reckon ya should just shoot the bastard chute

I shoot any chute near our bases, or enemy bases that we may be doing OPS on, because many times I've had plans ruined by the 'radio' they carry. Nothing personal, just take away your eyeballs and mouth, thats all!

RW and the ability to type messages should be disabled while you are in your chute or on the ground/water following a bail out.  Period.

And yes, any dweeb hanging it the air, acting as a spotter or potentialy acting as a spotter is fair game as it stands now.

Ok
Lets say someone flies a Goon way high over a base and bails out, or takes along a co-pilot, I dunno if you can "join" a Goon (simulating a troop drop w/radio) and manages to land himself near said base on an elevated position??  Would that be ok? lol, I've never done it yet but I've entertained the idea of being a FAC, gotta be kinda fun.
