Webhosting Site for squad webpage, personal webpage/ftp

I find myself in need of a personal website/ftp site and a squadron website capable of PHP forums / PHPNuke forums.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hosting services?

My site is hosted at exofire.net.  I have been very happy with them.  I'm only paying $20 a year.  They have a whole range of services from free (with advertisements) on up.

Used IPOWER for years.  Ran about 5 websites off them; however, within the last month their service has tanked.  They offered pretty much the same stuff as hostmonster.  I'm in the process of switching from IPOWER to hostmaster.  Initial reaction is very good.  Their customer support seems good and the websites seem to respond faster.

You could obtain an old, cheap second hand computer, put linux on it, and get a static IP from your ISP.  Make a server and host it yourself!

It'd be very low traffic, so you wouldn't need much.. just remember to back everything up everyday, in case it gets hacked.

Check out Synchronet  (http://www.synchro.net/).  It has web software, BBS software, free DNS service and as many virtual hosts as you want. If you have DSL it's easy to get up and running. It's also very secure. I've been using it for years and have been 'attacked' 10's of thousands of times and the security has never been breached.  Might not be what you want but it's worth a look.  I have it running on a 9 year old PII-xps750 with Windows 98.  It's not real fast but it does the trick.

We just switched to this host.  VERY impressed.  Websites load faster.  Their customer service was better.  Their backend cPanel was excellent.  Good prices as well.  Highly recommended by me.
