[Movie] Dogfight immersion!
« on: June 02, 2008, 01:21:18 PM »
It's actually my first movie redone - I was not completely happy with the first outcome.

The goal of the movie was to create the hectic, tense atmosphere in a cockpit during a dogfight - and for immersion I wanted to remove any obvious signs of flightsim. So it was recorded without icons, and textbuffer was removed from footage.

Also, I had to record with FRAPS online to get moving ailerons and all instruments active (control surfaces - except flaps, doesn't move in filmviewer).

* shortened to about 2 minutes making sequences more dynamic, and there is now heavy use of pan/crop/zoom

* added several sound layers for voice, guns and engines (engine sound ripped from real world Bf109 footage) - first version had only music.

* film filters for old grainy looks, Youtube automatically adds blurry effect! :)

Turn up the volume and watch it here at Youtube   :salute

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

Cool music and nice camera angles.  Starring into the sun a few times was a great touch.  Almost felt mesmerizing.

That fight looked like a lot of fun to be in.

Those were blanks they were shooting right?
 :)

Thanks all for the kind words  :aok

Who was the other 109 ~bovi?
Nope, bovi doesn't have the looks to star in a film production  :t
It was flown by Tele, a great guy from Germany which I have had countless of excellent duels with, <S> Tele.

Those were blanks they were shooting right?
heh - yeah it was filmed in training arena - though I think HTC just for fun also load my planes with blanks in the main arenas...  :(

Very good Film...just shows you that the 109s can TnB with the best of them if flown correctly.  :salute
