Bushes ,shrubs,small trees ,etc,etc
« on: June 16, 2008, 12:09:14 PM »
GV,s track vehicles in general .

1......First I cannot understand why a tank/track GV would not be able to go threw a hedge row.
coming to a grinding Halt while at full speed is not realistic at all At That speed it should allow a panzer,t34 etc etc to go over or threw

Please see if that can be turned on .or added into the script

2........ Tracks , It would be nice to have tracks left so that way people would know if a GV has been there or not .

This would be a great improvement in the AREANAS

HMMM wabbit tracks, Duck tracks.    :D

In addition, please allow tanks to drive thru buildings and some trees and remove ability of GVs to drive thru each other.

One t34 tactic used in WWII was ramming in hopes knocking german armor off track and to close the distance to make maximum use of the t34 main gun which was weak at long range.

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

IIRC they used to have vehicle collisions but it got some really funky results.

All of these sound like great ideas  :aok  If added, I'd use GVs a lot more than I do.

Yes...instead of just the 2inch dust trail, some indents in the ground that rep. GVs driving.
Also I think that driving through DEAD buildings would work...it would slow you down, but you should be able to do it.

what about the 200mph+ hill drop? I need those hedges at the bottom of a hill for that 'instant stop' effect

The gv collision model is obviously way porked.  Try driving off a cliff in the training arena.

Do you realize how hard it would be to have dynamically drawn tracks on the terrain tiles and that, being "custom objects", not part of the regular terrain tiles, how it would slow peoples comuters down?

Also, lets say it did happen.  How long do they stay there?  Everything between 2 GV bases would be trampled in short order.  If they only stay a set period of time, increase the strain to servers and your computer as they are drawn, then un-drawn.

While it sounds cool on the surface, I wouldn't want HTC spending the resources on a project like this that would take away from other development for a minimal eye candy gain and a big hit to peoples frame rates.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Im thinking we want tracks to show so we can tell where a tank went into the trees, behind buildings etc. which would be cool, but I dont think its practical right now for the above mentioned reasons. hedgerows though, tanks couldnt just drive thru or over those. they were THICK and TALL. The germans used them to great effect after D-Day to slow the allied advance. Read the book Death Traps for more detail about that. Great read.
