Just curious here HT. Have you met them both?
How close was I on the description?

BTW Congrats and when will you surrender your bachelorhood.

Mav, I have not met the girl in blue, but your description of Alyona is not very accurate. She is much more of an introvert than extrovert.

But how exactly do you know about babushkas?

I'd say....wait another day. Well, thats "I'll pass".
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

What ROX said !!   :D

Also...you might practice saying :

"Yes dear, I'm getting off the computer right now"

"You are right about that...how could I have been so stupid?"

"It's OK honey...I know you have those headaches... :uhoh"

My first marriage was the worst, costliest mistake of my life. I'm on my second time around, and so far things have been OK.
You may find that her current enthusiasm for all the things you enjoy might fade a bit once she gets you to sign on the dotted line. From my own experience and virtually all the guys I've talked to this seems to be the case. The courting phase is the most fun.
Anyway that's the opinion of an old twice-married guy.

That said...Best Wishes to you both ! :)
She looks like a lovely woman.

Wow joker... thats a fairly negative view. I'll be married 10 years this November. Happy and still going strong. Wife even approved purchase of a gun recently.

So how'd ya meet?

She's a beautiful woman.  One of the programmers I used to work with was from the Ukraine.  His wife was always trying to play matchmaker with all her old friends back home.  Phew, not a bad looking one of them but she insisted we'd have to learn Russian and chat with them on our own.  Heck that required effort, so she didnt get many of us guys to write em.

There no, ahem, shotgun involved in this now, is there?    :huh :lol

I have a buddy who recently married a Ukrainian woman. VERY STRONG OPINIONS about everything.

I married a lady from Brasil that seems to have VERY STRONG OPINIONS about everything. Of course the lady i was previously married to from the USA followed that same bent...

The one in purple Alyona, is my wife to be. I met her last October.

She sent me that picture from yesterday of her and her friend, Alyona is 30,and her friend 22. For some reason Alyona thinks her friend is much better looking than her. I simply said I would put it to a vote, so I did.

Congratulations!! I know that feeling :)

So, how is that marriage going Mark? Was it the right decision? Don't answer if she browses the AH internets...

It was the best decision I ever made. Period. I should have married her 4o years ago. It is a very different life experience for me. A woman can do that to you.

Hiya JB :) I lurk in here a lot, just don't post as much as before.

HT,
Oh well, it's hard to make much of an assessment from a single photo. I just tried to cover personality since both were lovely and lots of other folks already commented on their looks.

I was familiar with the term 'Babushka" from previous reading I had done. In the photo the older woman fit the sterotype perfectly with the scarf, age and the fact that she's supplementing her income by selling food on the sidewalk.

That's certainly not something only in the slavic area either. You can see the same kind of thing in Hispanic areas of the world. There's just no term for them like in the slavic side.
