The Ju-88 torps should be set to run at slow speed, therefore giving them a much longer range. It's virtually impossible to get within 2,200 yards in a big assed Ju-88. And even if you do get close enough,it is almost always a 1-way flight, something will nail you on the way out.

German F5B aircraft torpedo:

Fast speed:2,200 yards (2,000 m) / 40 knots
Slow speed:6,560 yards (6,000 m) / 24 knots

Or, they could give us this torp instead:
F5W aircraft torpedo(Italian F200/450)
range:3,300 yards (3,000 m) / 40 knots

I got in close enough to kick off the fish from a Ju88 several times in the MA today.  I'd circle back outside the ack and look to make sure they were running.  One set missed the CV by about 30ft (passed infront of it).

The problem I've found is that they won't run if dropped at 200mph/200ft (readme says max 210mph/390ft).  I had to slow to about 160-170mph and all subsequent drops (3 with 'dud' fish) were made at about 50ft.

Yup, I usualy have to drop BELOW 200kts to have a successfull drop (I usualy am splashing waves in the water with my props as well, so I know I'm not too high...)

IAS at SEA level -> should be close to TAS, so my 1st thought of that 210mph being TAS, is NULL...

Best thing I found so far, was to go in close as fast as U can, then Drop speed with Divebrakes and Full-Rudder-kicks(Tm). The only times I succeeded were Dead 12(Frontal) attacks, but then, ya gota come back a few times, 'cause you gotta sink that cruiser 1st, hehehe...

The torp will gain speed when dropped from altitude, therefore the 210mph is at SL, while the 390ft is at stall speed.

It's called a trajectory genius. The torps from the PT boats cant exactly catch the CV either, but people make them work. You figure it out.

Ever thought about dropping torps from ahead of the formation?

...CV will eventually run over the torps unless they miss.
