Well I see you already know it all. Congrats again LT.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Congrats Flyboy.

unlike the US army, where you enlist in advance to become an officer and never expirience how its like being a soldier, or operational duty.

BTW some of the best Officers I've had the pleasure to work with in the US Army were once Enlisted soldiers. OCS grads.  So your above statement is false LT.

Congratulations and Good Luck FlyBoy. A crisp, and more official than usual; <S>

WTG :)

Several paths in the US to become an officer.
Most common is enlist with a bachelors degree, go thru basic, then OCS, come out the other side as a 2nd Lt.
About 3 months give or take from start to finish.
Lootenant in 6 months, captain a year later, and Major in 2 after that if I remember correctly.
Pretty much automatic to Major unless you really screw the pooch along the way.
Lootenant Colonel is the first tough step up .. you have to know what you're doin and the people above you and that work for you have to know that you know :)

-Frank (knew a Senior Msgt that refused to salute 2nd lootenants .. was hilarious :). . man he got some serious chewin from the Wing King :)
