Pyro, is it possible to see the range Icons show up reduced to 5000 yds for planes travelling below 250ft AGL? I think it would be fairer for those who are running low or approaching low to get the "ground blend" effect you would have in real planes. As it is we can spot a low plane from 20,000 ft, something I know from real life would be almost impossible. I don't think the range the dots show should be different, just the icon. That way if the person has sharp eyes, he can see a dot moving but he would have no big red sign showing him an enemy when he's cruising at 20 thousand feet. just as in the real world a pilot could spot a fast moving plane up high by the motion and contrast from the plane and the ground, but when that low he would have to REALLY be watching for it.

BTW this isn't a thread about removing icons alltogether or other ideas, post those elsewhere.

I just did two C-47 runs into fields from extreme low alt(~30ft) - At that height I imagine it would be very hard to see the Gooneybird over green ground(certainly the P-51D on my tail had a hard time hitting it  ), except for the fact that Mr. Neon Sign is glowing away over my head.

I would say reduce it to 2000ft for lower than 100ft AGL too, down to no icon at all below 50ft?

Deja vu.  I thought we had set that up, but I guess that was somewhere else.

Thanks Pyro

Btw no icons is a bad idea, no matter how low. I would say 2k is pretty iffy too. At those ranges you would have to be half blind not to know what kind of plane you were looking at. Even on the ground when only 6000 ft away you should be able to pick out alot of details.

BTW Pyro. I hope your not going to distinguish between variants on icons? otherwise people will be able to change their tactic in unrealistic ways to fight the earlier planes. After all, noone is going to fight a mark V like they would a IX. and outside, there was very little to distinguish they two at range.

If your in range, so is the enemy.

Uhm... What about ground fog? I.e clouds from ground to about 1K?

Just a thought. In the absence of actual terrain to make flying nap-o-the-earth difficult this would be a cool addition.

Although little hills & valleys would be cool.

Oh yeah, and reduce the con ranges.
