Squad Highlight.

The other night I highlighted MOX as a wingman.  Noticed that his dot was white on the map.  Cool I thought, I liked this.

Then It Hit Me.

.wingman XXXXXXXX makes your wingy white icons, white dot.

ctrl makes your squadies Icon Orange, why not orange dots on the map for squadies?

Please make it so.

And Thanks.

(Also, I am starting to get aggrivated about the guns, I can see deflection shooting, but when I am pulling away from someone, and they nail me from 800 yards, that is getting a little too much.  I never heard of the Bouncer getting killed by the Bouncy except for the occasional 262 or an Auger (Manuver Kill)

Good point Downtown,

did a lot of thinking about that too.

Would be easier for a squad to stay together.

Downtown,

The ACM envelope is just larger here. Don't forget net lag either. Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.

It's a healthy habit to do low g evasives on the zoom part of your pass. Otherwise, your potential victim is liable to send you a very personal farewell note.

In some other sims, 500 yards is a long way. Here it is well within the ballistic capabilites of most weapons <as it should be>. Even 800 yards is not a "safe" range if the shooter is willing to accept that only a very small percentage of rounds will hit.

Finally, you are dealing with folks that practice shooting a very great deal; this place isn't amateur hour at the turkey shoot. It's more like Olympic tryouts.

So, when you B&Z a low slow target, he may feel his best chance to survive is to go for the low percentage long range shot. He may just hose off his whole ammo load to keep you from making that second pass.

If he lands just one good 20MM in your elevator, you may decide to go home and replane. Or, he might get lucky and land one in the cockpit.

Treat the ACM envelope as if it went out to 1.2 and you won't have much trouble though. Because it does, given net lag and ballistics.

Easiest solution? Kill him on the first pass!

The "Zoom" view is the reason for enhanced gunnery.  It cuts both ways, when you use it and when it is used on you.
