because our cruisers have 8'' guns that can level a town in about 10 minutes. A destroyer OR cruiser with only 5'' guns and 20mm guns would do.

Have the destroyer for some perkies and the cruiser for even more.

I like it but how about something a little different as long as it needs to be developed.  How about destroyer escorts?

Three 3-inch/50 caliber guns
Twin 40 mm guns
Nine twin 20 mm guns
24-missile hedgehog (144 rounds),
Two depth charge racks
Eight K-guns

Slave the guns like the PT Boats and Bombers.

BTW, I've been aboard the Slater when I lived in Albany NY.  Very cool.

Nah go with the Fletcher class dd, allot made, and more than that is that my Gpa was a helmsman on one during the battle for san bernidino straight, he made the yamoto which is the most powerful battleship EVER disengage from batle, it was 5 5inchers, and 10 torp tubes in 2 sets of 5. go team htc and get it done

To all who replied, thanks much for the input! The reason I suggested just going with the regular Destroyers we have in the fleet currently was to create a minimum of extra work for HTC. My thinking is initially just adapt the existing DD, and then later introduce other Destroyers and Classes as the game continues to develop.

Plus like any other ride they could be differently skinned like the PTs.

I would agree that a perked Destroyer would be fun and welcome by many and if you had destroyers, submarines would be a logical extension of that. :)

How about older destroyers instead of a Destroyer Escort. Give us a Ward Class Destroyer instead of lets say a Fletcher Class.

If your only going to have a SINGLE unit at your command, why not a BATTLE SHIP WORTH (???) perkies?? You know, something with a little more, BAM! to it? While your at it, get me a beer.

Because we already have a Destroyer and a Cruiser in the game.

Ward is not a class you mean Uss Ward a Wickes Class? if so sure. Its arrmiment was 4 1x4"/50 cal,1 1x3"/25 AA
12 21" torpedo tubes. Again this ship didn't have greaty AA abilities.

I like the idea very much.  I'm thinking it would be a good idea to limit the number of rogue naval vessels we have running around.

Also, allowing 2 gunners per ship would be good, too.  The "pilot", and a gunner.  No more.
