Film viewer issue.
« on: June 10, 2008, 01:36:03 AM »
<S> all. I've been trying to review some of my films in the viewer. The problem only happens half the time but when it does the sky flashes and is night time. also if i try to play them once it's opened the time (not the in game time) of the movie flashes to like 900 minutes when it's a 5 minute movie. if anyone has any idea how to solve this pls let me know

My computer was doing the exact same thing.  I have Windows Vista Home Premium.  This is the change that I made, and now it works just fine.

1. Right click on 'Aces High II Film Viewer'.
2. Click on 'Properties'.
3. Select 'Compatibilty'.
4. Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibilty mode for:".
5. Select 'Windows 98/Windows ME'.
6. Hit 'OK' and restart the Film Viewer.

I hope this helps you out.

I hope it works for you Talon07.  I know it's frusterating to have recorded some good furballin', or strat runs, and not be able to view them.  FYI, I made the above mentioned changes about three months ago, and my film viewer is working like a charm.
When you get it straightened out, you might try using 'FRAPS', to record the videos that you have saved in the Aces High II Film Viewer.  I've only had FRAPS for about a week and am still learning how to use it.  I like it, and it seems to get some good reviews from the AHII community.  There is a free trial for this program, and the only little drawback I see to it is that you are limited to :30 sec. record time.

I've already got FRAPS for recording film straight out of the viewer. the viewer was my issue. i've also got virtual dub that lets me shrink it into mp4 which is small enough to put into movie maker which compresses it again if i so choose. i think i should be set to make movies now. Catch is i join the air force in less than 2 months and won't have much time to do anything for quite a while. ah well you can't win em all.

I hope, when you get adjusted to the military lifestyle, you will be able to find some spare time to get back on AH.  I was stationed in Fort Lackland, San Antontio  TX., back 1988.  It was an experience that I would not trade for anything.  May your's be a safe one.  <S>.

Now back on topic:

MajWoody: Skuzzy has some good stickys on issues of AMD and dual core processors for Windows XP.  It fixes the 'in game' problem that a lot of people have with the spinning clip-board.  That's where I got the idea to try it on AHII Film Viewer.  It has worked for everyone that I have recommended it to, I wish it would have worked for you.
If you find a fix for it, please post it.  I am curious to see what the problem is.
