Shooting up drones may be a good way to practice, but something more is needed. Adding a drone button in the setup menu would be nice. Then let the player change the drone type to the aircraft s/he wants to blast. This could come in handy for those who want to blast bombers. As for bomber guns in such a situation, just port over the Ack code. Simple, yet effective. I was thinking about a system similar to carriers in that you could set up waypoints for the drones to follow. Sort of create an ad-hoc way to practice blasting planes. I'd love to see waypoints set for drones, since it removes the need for UFO-type AI (ala WBs). You could limit the waypoints to bombers only, and even then a max limit of 4 planes. This would prevent a LOT of offline-only use, but would give you a way to practice.
As for drones online in the TA, well I mentioned that to Leph a day or three ago (longer?).

Giving trainers the ability to set drone waypoints would allow them to see how someone is doing. And it saves time. Trainers would no longer have to re-up every time a Tin Horn shot 'em down. This is the only alternative to giving trainers the ability to mess with lethality settings. I mentioned that little gem in another thread, which was apparently ignored. I'd also like to know how I could set the cloud wall in H2H or offline, but that's another thread...
