The half cocked safety is no safety at all or... very little in the way of "safety".. it is just a notch on the that the very thin sear engages.. it can break or slip off quite easily and should not be trusted.   The first single action revolvers all depended on this type of safe carry so smart people just carried the guns with the hammer resting on an empty chamber.

Lazs thats exactly what I plan to do.  Hammer down on empty chamber.  Even placing it in the safety position depends on your thumb release of the hammer.

The Henry has the best system I have seen in that it is much like the Ruger revolver transfer bar.  I carry the gun with one in the chamber and thumb back the hammer for the first shot.

I like a rebounding hammer too like the smith system.
