True.

But there are EASY planes, which forgive 90% of all mistakes and still get the kill regardless of the pilot ineptitude or lack of control.

Dweebs tend to gravitate toward these planes.  ;)

But I agree the planes are not dweeby.

I don't look at the 9-U as being dweeby in the least. It does fly and maneuver very well but has such a light ammo load that most dweeby pilots cant kill much with it before they run out of ammo do to the usual spray and pray method  of gunnery lol.
From the ashes of the old we rise to fly again. Behold The Phoenix Wing!

The Yak reminds me of the P-38. It does nothing really great but does enough things "good" to be a great little fighter. With the added bonus of speed and toughness even if you lose some firepower. But really, it aint a terrible gun package.

The Yak, unlike its stablemate the La7, and like one of those most popular objects of complaint, the Spit16 is a fighter which if your plane cannot outmaneuver it, it can likely engage and disengage from it at will. And that to me is the definition of "fair" in AHII mixed plane combat.

I always have great fights with yak pilots even though I blow the crap outta those wood planes. I would rather have yaks anyday over uber spixteens. :aok
When I die bury me in a P38.

I watch day after day, week after week, tour after tour, the Bishops and Rooks take bases and win maps while the Knights stand there with their thumbs stuck in their butts. It's just pathetic!

Flew two Sorties with Kermit last night in the Yak 9u. Some of the best winging tactics I've ever done. The plane is great, I really enjoyed it.

Of course it is dweeby.
Completely overmodeled. Climbing to 5k from takeoff while accelerating to 500 mph. Outturns a Zero. And somehow almost invulnerable - more than once I pumped 1000 30mm into it without any damage. HT should fix that crap.

If someone's asking for films - my cat ate them  :noid
