Artillary And Country Command
« on: July 09, 2008, 04:25:00 AM »
I would really like to see the addition of Artillary to the game. Nothing outragous, but the ability to shoot artillary from a forward position would be pretty cool. Not to mention the fact that Artillary was HEAVILY used in WW2.

My second wish is for command. I think the top 3-5 ranked people from each country should be in a sense "armchair generals". These few people are the best in their country and they know how to play strategically as well as in the cockpit. They wouldnt have real power but they would be able to place markers on the clipboard map showing "we are making an offensive push this direction". Or "it is important these bases be defended from attack". Something as simple as a Red line for attacking direction and a Blue line for defense. The generals would also have a seperate colored text for country chat, so the members of the country can distinguish. This would widely stop the rediculous scatter brained attacks of the countrys. Where people are chiming in on the country chat "We need help at X base", so you land just to look on the map that 2 people are attacking a large base full of bandits and are insisting help.

Let me know what you guys think about my ideas! :salute

although you did ask for artillery you did not ask for MOBILE artillery like i did so although our request is similar they are still different and i believe i was typing mine still when you just posted yours so i did not see it.

BUT! i do also agree with you that artillery is a much needed future.

On arty, would love to see it, both fixed at bases, and mobile. German 88's were legend, deadly vs planes and just as deadly vs tanks. Would love to be able to man one.

On leadership, those who are the best strageic thinkers are not always the best pilots.
Just because someone can get himself into the top 5 in rank does not mean they'll make a good general.

In general, top 50 rank is not that hard to achieve if you work hard at it every day.
Boring perhaps, but achievable, and really not that difficult. As to the rest of your post, time spent in game, time spent watching, learning the players involved pretty quickly leads to knowing who you want to help and who is just making noise.

NO system no matter how complex can do that for you.

No.
The armchair generals are currently annoying enough as it is.
Don't give them the ability to place markers, it's annoying enough to see someone spam on country text.

God forbid some squeaker decides to spam the markers all over the map so that we can barely see it........ :uhoh

Now I like that angle, you could use the Vox channel so everyone on that Vox would see the attack or defend markers.....would also be good for missions.

Missions already have that feature.
As we can see, many people use it.

if it were limited to the top 5 people in every country a squeaker would obviosly be hard pressed to find themselves in that seat. How many of you can sit there and say, "the top 5 guys in my country dont know what there talking about". At the same time, you could possibly put the position up to a vote. Elect a Master In Chief and have him select some cabinet. I dont know, but all i know is that there is little to no organization in the MA's.

And that's what makes the MA so popular. Totally freedom of action. Have fun any way you want. Drop in for 30mins after work and just have fun. And if you like organization.. find some likeminded pilots. Should be easy with country text & range vox. If they don't listen to you (or anyone else) they wouldn't listen to you (or anyone else) when carrying that "Chief" badge. Unless that player had some actual bower bestowed by that rank, which would in turn probably hamper the fun of the many, many casual players.

For "organisation", we have a whole plethora of events, most notably FSO, but also snapshots, scenarios (Rangoon upcoming!) and to some extend even AvA.

Yep, cuz then they'll make in-appropriate pictures w/ the pushes like what people do on CV's
