Voice or Text Muting

I've read some posts about people getting muted.

Personally I've played for 6 years and never had it happen to me

My question is how does it actually work?  I mean, is it if a certain number of players 'report' someone, are they muted?  If you are muted, do you know why or who did it?  So for example, a very large squad could collude together to mute someone? (can't be right?)

Or is it simply HTC moderators who are on at the moment see inappropriate text or vox, and mute you?

Not sure, but i think it can happen both ways.

It can happen both ways. And yes a large squad "could" gang up on someone and get them muted (I've seen it happen, took the guy a couple of days to get it worked out with HTC. His "reputation"  didn't help much either, but the logs proved it out).

If a mod does it they give you a warning or two (so I've been told, never muted myself either), if its a mass reporting you just loose it.

I have gotten a pop up window warning me when i tried to type in some combination of F4U and alt(K) and other typos.

I don't know how it works either... other than... you cuss.. you get muted with a specific amount of time.  Anytime I've been muted, I think it's been the automatic deal?  I didn't get the warnings.  I figure, if I cuss, I'll take the mute.   If I don't, I don't have to worry about it.

As far as I know, there are 3 ways to loose chat privs.

1) If you type some bad words you will be warned by filter 2 or 3 times before it mute you.
2) If you say bad things which cannt be recognized by filter, mods can warn or/and mute you.
3) If you was reported multiple times by independent players or large squad. But if you think you said nothing wrong and HTC agreed with you, you will get chat privs back and offenders will probably loose their.

does anyone know when this gets cleared, because i have been playing for about a year or two and i have had many "warnings" but never muted?? does your slate get erased every month??

I think you need to be warned withing 10-15 mins to get muted by filter. Dont sure, though.
