Pe-8 would actually be usuable in MA. it has good speed, good defensive armament, good climb rate, good bomb load, and its a russian bomber, which we have none of in game!  :aok

Low priority addition in my mind.  Only about 800 were built.

The first Russian Bomber should be either 2-3 versions of the Pe-2 or the Tu-2.  They can perform the same level bombing missions as the Pe-8 as well as tactical air support roles.

In light of the recent nooby posts in the wishlist, i have decided to bring back my old thread because we need this plane more than a B-29 or Ho-229.
Hitech we are still waiting for the newest heavy bomber of AH, why not this one  :aok

I like this plane... it has potential.   I don't know if the numbers should be taken for a big issue.  When it comes to Russian heavy bombers, this one was one of the more used it would seem.  I don't know if one can compare those numbers with American or even British numbers considering the difference in priority of the strategic bombing to the different countries.

I for one would love to see such a plane in AH planeset.  :aok

Very problematic design with a troubled operational history.

In theory it should have been the equal of the B-17 but the lousy engines. I honestly dont know how many PE-8s were built but it wasn't a successful design. Not helping matters was the lack of enthusiasm for strategic operations in the Soviet air force, which was virtually 100% a tactical air force.

Its contribution to the war was nothing compared to the TU-2, which was a far more versatile and capable airframe. The TU-2 could fill several roles in AH and since we dont get new bombers often this needs to be considered. The TU-2 had almost the payload, was far faster, was more nimble, and could fly a variety of operations in the game. Strategic, tactical, maritime, and its "almost Mossie" speed would make it a great raider.http://www.aviastar.org/air/russia/tu-2.php

The PE-8 would be so one dimensional compared to the TU-2.

The issue isn't whether or not the plane was used wisely. One of the great things about Aces High is that we aren't required to make the same mistakes of Hitler and Stalin or even Harris and Marshal. We could go to the hanger with 12 people and manufacture 36 brand new Pe-8s, without the technical problems, and use them the way we feel they would be most useful.

The Pe-8 would be a great addition for the VVS forces and I'd like to see it in the game.
