Some Thoughts After A Year
« on: July 11, 2008, 01:12:57 AM »
I signed up about a year ago, maybe a little less than a year, and a couple of months later I discovered the forums.

When I signed on I was recovering from a serious life threatening illness, and Aces High was what I needed to occupy my time since I was so weak all I could do was basically sit.

I just want to say thanks to all for all the fights win or loose.  I still have a long way to go, but every time I die I feel I learn a little bit more.  Thanks for the 200 channel, it has given me hours of entertainment.  Thanks for the forums, need I say more.  :lol

The purpose of this post?  Well, I got to thinking of all the thousands of post and/or replies that I have read, which was the best one?

There is no doubt, and I'm sure some of you will remember.  I didn't do a thread search to see who posted it, but here it goes;

"Hey Joe, Fill er UP"

Strangely enough I find myself in a similar situation, which is why I started with AH2.  Four years ago, my right leg was very seriously shattered in a fall (25 ft) while working.  I'm self employed, so there has been no workman's comp or any of that while I have been recovering.  So, three and a half years and three surgeries later I am still facing two more (at the minimum) surgeries and a lifetime of recovery.  This of course merely draws attention to the fact that lawyers and our legal system pretty much sucks buttocks and is more concerned with protecting corporate interests rather than real people, but I digress...

Anyway, I've been burning my free time (a lot to burn) with various online games...  Thank God for AH2, this has got to be the best/most intelellectually honest game of the bunch.

I plan to keep upping planes and learning as long as I can...  Who cares if I get shot back down, nothing these internet dweebs can do to me compares to real life....

It is a game after all...  Pretty darn fun though, even if your vox comms are poor like mine...

The "Hey Joe Filler UP " story was hysterical.

I still tell that story when trying to describe the game to neophytes.
