Perk Points are a tool which can be used to reward and therefore shape player acitivity. But this assumes that players want to use them. Thus the more uses for them the more influential the perk. I for one am not all that pleased with the Perk system yet cause frankly the only perk plane that vaguely appeals is the Tempest. So what do I care for Perks? Well lets see, what if...
Perks could be used to Accelerate Base Repairs? Say 1 perk point to repair a gun five minutes faster, etc.
Perks could be used to create and send on a robo mission Drones? (say to buy a plane to scort you, or to go bomb a given base or to goon etc etc, using standard routines in the offline software for drones and a scale of expense that would have to be carefully examined to avoid abuses)
Perks could be granted to other players, thereby facilitating player cooperation as wealthy perk meisters could "hire" lower players to assist them in team activities or to reward someone who pulled you out of a bad six situation.
Perks could be used to Obtain Score Points, increasing your Ranking (for fleet command or other options not yet in play).
Perks could be traded in for credit to monthly fees (naturally at some ridiculously exhorbitant rate, say 100 perkies per dollar? or more or less dependent on what the top perkie gainers are getting) This would have the added bonus of retaining old veterans who might get bored but if they get a discount, in effect, might be motivated into staying.
Perks could be converted from types, at a ratio of say two to one (so you could trade four vehicle perks for 2 Fighter Perks).
Perks for unsual ordnance, such as the huge bombs used on the lancs (12 or 22 k?), long lance japanese torpedoes, skip bombs, glide bombs, hmmm sure there are other things here to mess with.
Perks for tougher troopers, ones that Duck and take more damage or will walk further to a target! Or that shoot back like flak!
Sure there are hundreds of other uses for a Perkie Point, lets hear em.
