Article on Libertarians in Time.
« on: July 16, 2008, 11:59:54 AM »
Whoopee! I feel soooooo much better now that the mediapotatos have given my brand of political thought recognition. Now I can hold my head up high.

Seriously though folks, I guess recognition is a good sign. One of the few things I have seen in the news that makes my pessismist-bastard mindset soften up even for a little bit.

There was a time when I was more hard-line that the choice of Bob Barr would have troubled me, however, I have come to think it maybe a net good if libertarians "sell their soul" maybe just abit to become relevant. Better Faust than impotent and irrelevant.

Being a proud Independent ...I would like to see Libertarians and other groups come together to join a cohesive third party.  that's my dream.

With congress locked in an almost always 50/50 stalemate......do you realized the power even a very small third party could have in congress?  imagine that...a party that only represents the people who sent them there...no other special interests...just it's constituents.  who wouldda thunk?

Be kind of hard for the Libertarians and the Communists to come together...

OTOH, to the Libertarians/Constitutionalists/Disgruntled Paleo-Cons I say...work it out boys. Keeping our 2nd Amendment rights, avoiding another disastrous foreign war, and actually doing something to get the government out of the average person's bellybutton is vital right now. We can debate whether we should legalize crack and heroin or just weed, etc, sometime later when more important business is out of the way.

I would love the option of a viable third party with libertarian leanings.   We vote for republicans now simply because they are walking toward socialism rather than running headlong toward it like the democrats.

Would be great to be able to vote for a viable third party that was for turning socialism and big government back a little.

You think it's a coincidence that the media waits until the middle of an election year to remind us that there are other partys?  Did you forget about Ross Perot?  -they haven't.

Our only hope is the fact that for every right leaning party there are two liberal kook parties to syphon votes the other way (a la Ralph Nader god bless him).
