I think they angle on the blue strips must be watched closely. In Dan tops picture they are longer and reach farther back along the side of the body. Of course that picture is of the craft without D-day strips on it. If you do it with out the d-day strips, make them long, if with, make them short.

Other than that, I think it looks pretty darn nice !  :aok

One thing I did notice is the blue on the nose extends all the way back to the back of the cowling, otherwise it looks great!  :salute

The profile was based on photos provided by Leroy Grossheuesch in the book it was in. He clearly didn't have it and he flew it.   I don't have anything that gives the serial.  The close up photo shows it covered by the rising sun flags but 42-27??? is visible.  Best suggestion is to fudge it a little bit in that serial range.  42-27868 or something similar.   227868 goin on the tail.

Are there any top views for reference. It looks (from the formation pic) that the scallop may come to a point on the top of the cowl as well. Looks good to me. Only two things that I notice off hand is that the blue is a little to purpleish and the black stripe seperating the blue from the alum on the cowl seems a shade too thick/dark. Seems a little more subtle in the pics.

I agree with lilmak, the strip outlining the scallop should be more of a pin strip, maybe half a thick as you have it, but other than that picky little thing, she a sweet looking bird !! Well done !
