I'm in tears over the write up on the Ki-61.   I hope some folks actually believe it.

Soda's evaluations have mostly been copied into AHWiki to act as the starting point for the aircraft articles.

That is, and has been, a fairly closely guarded secret.

You sought it?

I meant lower than on the Spixteen....the VIII isn't clipped ;)

You'd think so, but DokGonzo's site lists the Spit16 and Spit8 as practically the same in turn radius both flaps in and flaps out. Although I will admit the 8 seems more user friendly pullilng a harsh turn, less likely to drop a wing.

However, because the Spit8 carries somewhat more fuel, it is possible that if they were both tested at say 50%, the Spit16 would have an unfair advantage. Possibly the Spit8 would turn tighter with fuel loads that yielded similar full-throttle times.

I use Spit VIII very much against the Spixteen with good results...they think they can turn with me and when they can't, they go either zig-zag fish where I close the gap and shoot them in the zig, or try to run, but are not fast enough:D
Yes the fuel load is good. Take a slipper tank and 50% to harass a field one sector away, that'll be enough to bring you home after some kills  :t
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
