Man, I dunno why but I can hit snap shots much easier in a tatter plane even at 400ft vs trying to hit a guy when you are right behind them. In a regular fighter with normal guns then a 400ft shot from direct 6 is a breez but tatter plane it can be quite hard and if they are bobbing and weeving then you better hope for a lucky hit.
Yes it is much harder when you don't have 200 rounds per gun to spray and pray for a hit. Use the MG make them break then nail them. If they don't break and you can sneak in some hit sprites with the MG (a good reason for not using tracers) hold it steady and try a tater round.
Just never rush the shot, you will always miss.
And in general as far as using or not using tracers. Tracers imho makes you lazy, either to let the target fly into the spray or the spray into the target. Rather then taking the time/patience and learn to aim without tracers and land hits first time.
