Did you ever have this happen?Be honest!

Was flying along in a P-51D..which I seldom fly...spotted a four cannon hog,and in I went.The pilot was pretty good,and soon had me in trouble.I hear this check 6,and I go whew, and continue to try and shake the Hawg.I look back,and my countryman has caused my pursuer to concentrate on him.I reverse,get a good shot,and skin up my adversary,but he soon turns the table,and my helper has to bail me out once again.After several rinse and repeats,I manage to dispatch the Hawg,but I must say I felt lousy about it.The Hawg pilot never even whined on 200,and showed a lot of class.Now how many have had a similar situation?

This happens all the time. This is actually what should happen. The longer you fight with someone the more likely it is one of your respective ad hoc "wingmen" will elect to lend assistance. Sometimes this works out in your favor, as it did with you, sometimes not. Had the fight been going your way initially you would not have been happy to see the friendly interloper. Had the F4U's friend showed up instead of yours when he had you right where he wanted you he would not have been happy. The fact that he did not spew venom on 200 when you got some help means he must be a seasoned veteran who knows this is part of air combat.

Anyone who spews on 200 when that happens is imbued with what I coin, "the victim mentality", and doesn't really understand the nature of air combat. Anyone who faults a friend or foe for helping someone at an apparent disadvantage is clueless. I don't get cherry picked or gang-banged often, but when I get picked while roping someone I just <S> the guy, he did what he was supposed to do, he saved his buddy, I would do the exact same thing for one of mine. When I get gang-banged because I am taking too long to kill or let my E state get too low, no problem, I deserved it. I wish more people understood what your worthy F4U opponent obviously does.

In many years of off and on flying, it does in fact happen all the time.  I rarely tune to 200.  I've been PM'd only twice maybe by a poor sport.

they are right it does happen all the time.

I can send you films of this same form of combat, or 3-5 on 1 and the same thing happens.

This is more the norm then anything else. Situational awareness and gunnery are actually the biggest part of air combat. Guys who can hit there shot the 1st time and respond quickly to the enviorment around them do much better then those who's biggest strength is actual ACM. What makes the C hog so deadly is its large ammo load and enormous pop. Basically he (the C-hog driver) is a drive by waiting to happen...

What's to feel badly about? The Chog flew solo and paid the price of a 2 v 1. This is air combat simulation; killing the opponent before he kills you. Leave the Marquess of Queensberry rules at the front gate.

  sound like a good sortie... there is much whinning bout the combat. but i've been finding bout 40 % of the time a good fight happens even thoo i get the short end o stick most times.

I'd say the vast majority falls into this category, though some nights it doesn't seem like it

I would consider this to be the norm.  I do not tune 200, so I guess I never catch the complaints if they exist.  I have only had 1 person send me PM's or tune me directly griping, complaining and being a general all-around jerk.  I try to salute every great performance by an opponent whether they got shot or shot me down.  I highly recommend that others do the same.

In the MA 7 outta 10 times you die....its your own fault....Couple times you die its because you were out flown.
The other time is that dang tree at the end of the runway that some how always clips your wing when you come in for a landing.

I would imagine that the C-Hogs reaction (none) is probably the norm ... for most.

As Zaz pointed out, those who choose to come onto 200 and whine about such events are only trying to deflect (make excuses for) their poor choice(s) and/or their suckage.

I love the ones that expose themselves to multiple bad guys and when they are sent to the tower you get this ...

"LOL ... it only took X amount of you to kill me" ... I usually respond ... "Not really ... only 1 guy killed you ... and that was you".

Never does it occur to them that they actually engaged in a "no win" situation ... for the skill that they have.

Sadly, this has been happening with more frequency.  In the last month, I've been PM'd three times when a squaddie and I watched each others six.  Some call it gang-banging, others call it teamwork.  I agree with the latter.  Sounds like a great sortie Olddobe.
