I personally find this no different than all the hoing, running, stay high, play it safe, and all other bs going on in planes.

It is physically possible to make a head-on pass* OR engage prudently or bug out* in an actual aircraft. Making your GV's engine noise go away, not so much.

*I personally find it interesting that the two most criticized actions on this forum, often complained about in the same sentence, are the head-on pass and bugging out, because they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. One represents leaving when your judgment tells you survival is unlikely if you press a bad situation. The other pretty much represents throwing away any hope of survival to engage in the most stupidly aggressive form of attack possible.

Hello Bipolar,

I understand your reasoning for wanting to level the playing field.  There are those out there will do anything to win.  This is not a challenge to your average dedicated AH player, and is not of interest to most of us in this great game.  Hopefully you feel the same way.  Putting this info out there creates a whole new group of "campers" and "gamers".  I do truly hope that HTC does some work on the sound adjustments, so it cannot be gamed.  By the way, I have adjusted my volumes for comfort but not completely off.

Agreed. Purposely finding loopholes in the game engine is akin to someone purposely searching for loopholes in the IRS tax code.

Bad comparison....

Only ijots don't look for loopholes in the IRS code

Well, I just checked this 'trick', fortunately, it dont works as thread starter described. You cannt hear others engine if your own still running, no matter of your engine sound volume.

Hm... unless I did something wrong.

 :rofl  :aok

How about doing what I do.  I just turn my engine down enough to not get a migrane from my headsets, talk to my squadies and others, and that alone is enough for me to hear the enemy engine while looking around for him.

As for it being Gamey?  Should HTC to send you Sherman, T34, or how about Tiger Exhaust Insense Sticks?  Now would it be real enough for ya?  :aok :lol  How about some oil leak squirt bottles from behind your monitor?  :rofl

Hell why stop there.  We could import an insty freeze freezer for high altidude ops,  And then for the finale, how bout setting off a real grenade in your  office that frags you when you get hit?   :rock  :O

Too Gamey?  What the heck do you call Aces High?  Reality?  :D

The single best thing I did was to set sounds real low, like around 20, during vox transmissions so I can more clearly hear people talking.

I've turned down some of the sounds individually, like the base alarm, and globally just a bit softer to make it so my ears don't bleed.
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
