We need more puffy ack
« on: July 29, 2008, 01:49:31 PM »
I would like to see more puffy ack and AAA instalations. It would be great if each base had a ring of AAA guns and flak around the radar circle. A mobile front line of puffy ack would really let you know you were into enemy territory.
As it is the hordes just avoid each other and camp over bases. There must be a way of promoting dogfights in 'no-mans land' instead of all this one sided base assault.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

i never have a problem of finding fights.... you just defend the bases that those "one sided" assaults are going to.

Come on bat, ur good enough :D

While this thread is clearly a joke, I would absolutely be in favor of 3x the ack so long as it was 3x as inaccurate.

Completely different kind of puffy ack though. How about twice as much, but 3 times less powerful and accurate. :)

6,000lb of internal ordinance? :O

That's completely ludicrous. It held closer to 20,000lbs.

I don't know, more knowledgable parties are sure to jump in here, but after you posted I checked a few different sites about the B29.  Two sites listed bomb load in the 5-6k lbs.  Same as the first site I went to.  One site did list an ord load of up to 16k lbs, and a few bombers were modified to carry a single MOAB style bomb thats was in the 40k lb neighborhood.

I'll leave it to others to hash out which is correct.

At any rate, the climb rate isn't all that exciting anyway, which is really what I was trying to point out to the ZooZoo.

From the Boeing site: http://www.boeing.com/history/boeing/b29.html

Max load 20,000 lbs.

Urban legend on this airplane is easy to come by. You can see on Wikipedia that the plane is alledged to have carried a full bomb load of 20,000 pounds AND two 22,000 pound bombs externally but I remember reading that when they tried this experimentally during the war they 1) broke the tail off of the first plane to try it while one member was killed in the fire and the others escaped alive but severely shaken and 2) killed the entire crew on the second to try it even without the internal load (I have been looking for an hour and cant find the citation for that). I love this plane too and I have it for another game but I think it is not well suited for AHII.

This plane is the greatest fantasy for noobs because of its range and because of the defensive armament. I guarantee it can be shot down just as easy as any other bomber in the game (I would say easier then most because of its size). I know HT would never model the 'random' fires it really had and had OFTEN but I also believe the runways in AHII today are not long enough for this plane.

I would love to have it and even with a perk cost of 100 per bomber I would fly it but if the fields would have to be modified for longer runways I am against it completely.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
