Buff guns stop working when theres still plenty of ammo
« on: September 06, 2000, 07:19:00 AM »
Can someone explain why my buffs guns will suddenly just stop working for no aparent reason with enemy fighters still in gun range, leave me a sitting duck & unable to defend myself? Saying it's frustrating is putting it way to mild - I'm surprised you haven't heard my screams of anguish & stream of obscenties from here in CA when it happens all the way down there in TX! This situation occurs fairly regularly & all to often, but not all the time.

Read in another post the recorders not working right or well, so haven't looked at them - but I have several film examples of the phenomenon for the HTC 11-o'clock News - showing me still in level flight, helplessly tracking cons 250-1,000yds away & fearlessly closing in, with plenty of ammo still showing on all gun position counters yet unable to fire back, then rudely taken out of level flight & turned into a flaming meteor of aluminum.

Please tell me how or why this happens & what the fix is, cuz I'm not having any fun over here & don't think this was in the brochure!

Come on now guys, lighten up! It's just my gallows humor trying to put a positive spin on this & make light of the situation instead of getting all depressed about it :-)

Times I have seen something like this:

* If I am at an extreme angle when trying to fire the gun.

* The gunner position has been disabled since your attacker has killed the gunner (this is probably what it is).  You can press CTRL-D to bring up damage, most likely the position that does not work is listed in red (damaged).

Think I've figured out why it happens but not how.

ALL guns on the plane are disabled, I'm still in level flight & the gunner hasen't been killed because I can occasionly get the guns reenabled again by "fiddling" with my joystick buttons.

Think what happening is I'm accidentally turning the guns off by hitting the "wrong" stick button.  It could be a button for a key command or a macro program - but I've got to figure out which one, so I can either reprogram it to another position or just keep my damn fingers away from it during the heat of battle :-)
