I remember my first weeks in AH too Carl, you'll get over it. This is a old gameplay issue, and believe me you'll change yer tune in time. I used to announce I got an "Assist" thinking someone cared on green channel everytime too... these all newbie things.

You should have looked over at the 30 cons and said to yourself, "Self, why are all these cons here and noone blowded up da hangers?"

Anyhow, grab a B17 and level the FH's next time. Makes it damn hard for new guys to respawn and pad Pongo's score.

One thing though.

The effort of well coordinated strikes do not really match the results.

I.e you gather a huge group, or at least a decent sized group of planes, head off, bomb HQ, and by the time you're landed, effects have almost worn off.

Unless you gather an even bigger strike, and hit the city too. And if you do this, your force will be so depleted from resources during the strikes that the possibility of losing fields is very real.

Up the downtime some. Not much, but a little.

No huge group needed if deception tactics are used, only 2 required.  Example, Bish were busy HAMMARING an airfield with about 20 bombers and fighters, and doing it all the wrong way, no timing, c47 got their and AA came back up, it was a dreadful exhibition on how NOT to capture a field.  Meanwhile, our great CavemanJ took a P38L and I took a C47, and we easily captured a forward airfield, he knocked out all 9 AA's and I snuck my C47 in and captured it.

I noticed in Ripsnort's post (I assume it's from the AH docs) that there is one glaring thing missing at the factory targets.

It looks like we have the ability to increase the rebuild time on nearly everything on the fields *except* hangars.

I'd like to see some targets added to the factory site that would increase the rebuild time for hangars.

I personally don't utilize the city, factory, or HQ enough for strat.  I guess that's because you really need a good coordinated attack to make it to the area, and I must not be on enough when that happens.  However, having the ability to increase the hangar rebuild time, I think, would add a little more strat.

No carl I think I read enough. As to the defender having the advantage of respawning..
That is a trivial advantage compared to the real advantages a nation would have if someone was trying to capture one of its airfields.. The game assumes a minumum level of intelligence and imagination for success. Maybe the bar is just too high for you?
Sorry for the tone. Just trying to keep it consistant with yours.

Doesn’t matter.  As long as acks down.  I rolled an M3 into field with both fighters and tanks spawning.  Frankly, I think it is a real rush to do that way.  When I made a successful troop drop people started crying out, “Inviso troops, inviso troops!”  LOL it was great.  Rolled in right under their noses, parked right at map room and dispatched troops.  Rollo does it all the time. I learnt it from him

Be honest, how many M3 or goon drivers do you know?  Rare breed we are.  Most would rather vulch than take a field.  Or I should say, many would rather vulch than risk the sacrifice it take to fly a goon, or M3 a field when you’re not really sure the rest have readily prepared the field for capture.  Thus the reason not many want to drive a goon or M3.  Nothin worse than a 20-30 minute drive only to find out when you get there…

you are alone.

PS – I could be wrong, but I think the Airwolve Squadron has one of the best capture ratings in AH.  As far as the goon and M3 drivin goes.

heh  jehu  , ,i've done that also sneak bases with m3 while they fly right over your head , or you're obscured in the smoke   ====HEHE i'm bad  ,, the game play will change quite a bit now with the introduction of the Lancaster (b52) and the FLAK pnzr , still feel the respawning takes away the realistic feel of the game quite alot, but now since the LIII is out and it can destroy most bases 3 hangers in a single pass , the respawning thingy is less of a threat. BTW: this game is great , don't get me wrong ..there isnt anything out there that i've seen that compares with this , i'm amazed its soo cheap to play this quality.

"after watching 30 guys attacking a single base only to be thwarted by 2 respawners for nearly 2 hours"

Ummm

"after watching"

You didn't contribute?

And that said, sounds like the odds that the British faced in the Battle of Britain.

I found that in the face of those kind of odds, the trick was to keep up the front, /devise/ an alternate strategy, and involve a small number of people in on the strategy. Maybe a couple of p51s covering tanks.

Kudos to those two.
