Weather!
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:44:54 AM »
Hello everyone , I was wondering why there is no whether in this game , no night time , no fancy clouds and water. I've asked in the game and people have said that most people computers wont be able to handle it. This is true , but what about the ones that can? I think there should be downloads for better ground graphics , water , sky , and weather for those who wish to go the extra mile for there flight simulator experience. I have recently downloaded the mitsu sound pack , just like that but with advanced weathering and better graphics on land and sea. <Thoughts?>

Historically, weather = grounded.

Sounds like fun?

Realistically, clouds = frame rate of 8

(Why is this, rendering a big mass of white you can't see through?)

Quite easy to have realistic weather and set maximum, minimum visibility ranges, cloud layers, cloud types well within limits of WW2 aircraft so every day would be flyable but just with differences in weather conditions still suitable for operations.

Flying without any clouds/weather conditions reduces realism significantly imho. As for the average computer won't handle it might of meant something 5 years ago but not now.

My thought is that you have two posts this morning; both complaining about something.

Personally I'm not interested in spending a couple grand every year on new hardware just so you can see raindrops on your canopy. Then consider what the download times would be for such add-ons. FSX is what? twenty-something gigabytes?

They used to have night in the game.  The stars are spectacular.  Unfortunately it was whined out of existence.

We can't have weather 'cause DR7s tank would get stuck in the mud and we need him.

The sun does move from one side to the other but the clouds do not change color as they used to during sun rise and set. I really miss that as it was my favorite 10 minutes or so to fly. Bring back the orange sun!

Night did kind of suck but would last only for a short time. Some maps should incorporate it in again.

We had fog at the port in orange last night. Was hard to work with but cool all the same. Later in the north we were able to hide two carriers in a fog bank, very realistic. :aok
