The Threat of Gun Control = the biggest motivation to buy ?
« on: August 04, 2008, 12:40:55 PM »
Just wondering...

Is the threat of an Obama victory & a dem majority in both houses making you fear a new Clinton style "Assault Weapon" ban ? Is it making you think about getting that AR-15 you always wanted... before the proverbial door closes forever ?

I've been noticing that almost everyone I see at my local range is now shooting newly purchased AR-15s, AK's and SKS's - I've never seen anything like it.  The story always seems to be the same "I finally decided to get one before they're gone".   I've also heard people saying AR-15 style rifles are now outselling all other firearms by a margin of 10 to 1 (I do not know how true this is).

I have to admit I've been thinking about stocking up on a few "endangered species" - how do you all feel about it ?

I own 3 SKSs and 1 AK, been feverishly saving for a new rifle in .308 (AR-10 or CETME) But with the cost of living rising faster than my hourly wage it looks like it will be impossible.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

1. I remain unconvinced that the coronation of the Obamessiah is inevitable, at least I do right now.

2. Even then, until he and a Democratic controlled Congress can stack the Supreme Court, I'm not sure they can force any real gun bans.

3. They CAN however stack the BATFE in such a manner as to make being a firearms dealer so unpleasant as to drive a large number out of business. Look for that to be the route they take to start with. They'll be following the Klinton/Gore/Reno lead.

4. They may still not be able to force through any gun bans, if the Republicans play their cards well (they haven't done that often recently, but another hard lesson in November could change that).

On the flip side, YES, I am looking to pick up a few new pieces, including an AR-10, before the year is out. My real concern is FEAR of the election driving up prices as it has begun to do.

I'll have my own mill and lathe before long, all I'll be forced to buy is barrels. They have a hard time regulating those. I have my own reloading setup, and am adding to it, and a few of us will likely buy up supplies just to be safe.

My dad and I plan to get an M-14 (or M-1A, both the same) for our next guns. I'm still bustin my butt making money, but as soon as I get 700-900$$, we may buy an M-1 Garand too. :aok

He just lost an 8 point lead in a week. :D Ive never seen that happen before. And its going to get worse for him as the election nears.

What happened in the last week to turn off many Americans? First he went to Europe so all the Europeans could crown him "Euro-President of America". 2nd was his stance on the reparations scam.

Poor Democrats. They just havnt figured it out yet have they? Gore, Kerry, and now Obama. They just never could figure out that only Americans can vote.

I think you underestimate the power of gun nuts and their need to buy more guns.

Take me for example, I've been drooling over this baby (FN-FAL, L1A1, 7.62 NATO, semi-auto, dragunov stock, suppressed) now I have the gun bug :)  . And I'm not even in the US.

CAR's are plinkers.  If they're gonna be that far out, invest in 7mm.  You'll save yourself $'s on the purchase and the ammo.

I, on the other hand, just check the tag on my boxers.  No need for 'support' here.

<edit>  cuz I can.

Is this in the right thread?
