Found a new way to break the P38G
« on: August 01, 2008, 03:29:53 PM »
At least it's new for me, and I know how to break em.

Got into a very low and slow fight with an FM2 last night. Found myself mushing in and fighting to get the nose up.  I was kinda low, and very slow

Somehow the props didn't hit, but as the nose lifted the tail bumped the ground

Good thing 38s come with two of most everything :)

Somehow it kept flying despite hitting the ground.  Not to worry though I died shortly afterwards.

Thats obviously photoshopped...

We are all aware you hover at 26k, making it impossible to collide with the ground.

Hey, I've done that before! Once in the LW and once during a race. I must be catching up to Guppy's skill (though I know I'll never attain it). :D

I've had similar damage on my P-38L in the AVA, on the left side. The damage inflicted by a JG-11 pilot instead of the ground. I was actually suprised how well the aircraft performed. In fact it's happned twice and both times I've managed to get home, once downing a FW-190A5 after the damage was inflicted.

After flying with you the other day, I am amazed how you stay alive so long....some skill you have ;)
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
