All very laudable sentiments. Almost any way you look at it bombers in AH are basically f*d. I have read what feels like a zillion constructive posts such as these filled with rational ideas for bombers that would contribute to the game. However, nothing changes. So I guess nothing ever will.

Sorry to be so negative.

Achttag <-- not flying bombers any more, sadly

There is a bit of a difference between a bomb dropped from an aircraft and one parked in a car.  The bomb dropped from the plane buries itself in the ground before exploding.  This forces alot of the energy upwards, since it pretty much blows up under the ground.  The bomb in the car goes off at ground level, so it's blast effect is not channeled upwards.  This is much more dangerous against human targets, which is what the scumbag terrorists want, and you don't need as much explosive.

I live near London, maybe 3-4 miles as the bird flies.Well i heard the IRA bomb (roughly 500lbs i believe) go off! it absolutely wrecked the financial part of the city.Try and see some newsclips of the damage then maybe you would appreciate more the true terror bombing caused, here a bomb near misses your tank and you happily fire away!
in real life the shockwave would probably throw your tank 100's of yards with you a shattered bag of broken bones and shattered eardrums inside it.
I still think if you made bombers gunners as weak as they really were, that is to say not 'slightly tweaked' but then made bombs as powerfull as 'they' really were we wouldnt care about how hard it was to live in a bomber.that horrendous destruction you got to cause to the enemy if you did get through would make you try and try again i think, that way you could make the bombs less accurate and harder to hit pinpoint targets and maybe we would start using them how they really were used?
also timed fuses so we could drop at extremely low altitudes and escape the blast? They did it in the war , why not in ah?

not all bombs have to hit the ground to explode, the proxcimity fuse developed by USA in WW2 will explode the bomb before it hits the ground giving a larger blast radius,  but digging a smaller hole

A single 1,000 pound bomb, landing close enough, could flip a Tiger tank over. Read the book Panzer Commander by Hans von Luck, he describes it quite well. Here I've driven through, and taken off through, all forms of bomb craters with the exception of two. A 1k egg crater, and a 4k "cookie" crater dumped by a Lanc. My favorite sport is to ripple-release 500 pounders near a field then drive an M3 through the craters. It's the AH version of 4-wheeling!

Yeah... wreckage. Saw a piece of a hangar on the ground, just a flat panel and thought I could go over the top of it with a Panzer. Bad move.
